Key Definitions

  • Wallet Balance: Your available spending power for all services.

  • Usage Charges: Charges based on the consumption of product units (e.g. messages sent, voice minutes used, airtime disbursed).

  • Maintenance Fees: Recurring monthly charges for reserving short codes, USSD codes or phone numbers.

  • Setup Fees: One-time charges for activating a new service.

  • Service Suspension: The immediate state where all services stop working due to a zero or negative wallet balance.

  • Code Deactivation: The final step where a code/number is returned to the telecommunications company due to non-payment, requiring a new application and setup fees to regain it.

Wallet Balance

Your wallet balance is your available spending power for all Africa's Talking services.

The Africa's Talking wallet is the single source of funding for all deductions, covering any usage charges, monthly maintenance fees, setup fees and other one-

time fees.

Balance Status Indicators:

  • 🟒 Positive Balance: All services remain active and automatic deductions are processed smoothly

  • 🟑 Low Balance: We strongly recommend setting up low-balance alerts to prevent any unexpected service interruptions

  • πŸ”΄ Zero/Negative Balance: This will result in the immediate suspension of all your services until the wallet is funded again

⚠️ Please Note: Services are only accessible with a positive wallet balance. Fund your wallet before you need it, not when services stop working.
